Beautiful Loire Valley
The region known as the Loire Valley is located in central France. This diverse area offers visitors sophisticated cities, wonderful food and wine, and spectacular scenery. The area has an abundance of historic chateauxs, historic towns, sleepy hamlets, seaside escapes for nature lovers, and more.
Medieval French Town
The medieval town of Loches is situated in the beautiful Loire Valley, just 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Tours in the hills of the banks of the Indre. It offers bed and breakfast travelers one of the most impressive castles of the Loire region, the Chateau de Loches. Other attractions include the Romanesque Collegiate Church of St-Ours, Valmer and Villandry gardens and the caves of Chinon, Bourgueil and Vouvray. Outdoor attractions within easy reach range from golfing to hiking and horseback riding to boating.
16th Century Luxury
La Métairie is typical of Touraine architecture dating from the 16th century and its original character has been carefully conserved over the years. The B&B is near the village of Vou, surrounded by 200 hectares of private woods and small lakes with good fishing. The medieval town of Loches is 10 kms from here, Tours is 30 kms away and we are within a reasonable drive of some of the loveliest of the Loire châteaux.
The peace and quiet here at La Métairie is wonderfully soothing and welcome after a day out. The garden is filled with roses and centuries old trees and sometimes on a walk, you can catch a glimpse of roe deer or a stag, or herons and wild ducks near the ponds. Our family has lived in this house for more than three hundred years, so we know the Touraine area intimately and will be happy to advise on anything you may need to know. The four double bedrooms are prettily decorated and furnished with family furniture and each have a bathroom with either bath or shower. All the bedrooms have a sofa and television, a coffee maker and a small fridge. There is also a laundry room with washing machine and ironing facilities if needed.
