Save The Carry-On Petition

I'm taking a break today from posting our newest bed and breakfasts in order to ask you to consider signing a petition to save carry-on luggage for your next flight. I'm borrowing this from 1bag1world.com:

Sign the SAVE THE CARRY-ON petition

The hysteria caused by the Christmas Day incident as preciptiated a real crisis for the carry-on traveler. Register your opposition to the banning of carry-on luggage by signing the OBOW petition here. Please forward to friends and post on other message boards you visit (like FlyerTalk or Rick Steves). Our goal is 10,000 signatures. The petition text:

We, the undersigned, do petition and urge US Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano to allow no policy that bans airline passengers from traveling with at least one reasonably-sized item of carry-on luggage and a personal item. Banning carry-on luggage would impose an unjust, undue, and unnecessary burden on a traveling public already under great stress. - sign here

A Bed and Breakfast in Greenwich Village

Rooms To Let is in historic Greenwich Village, Manhattan New York. The bed and breakfast is just moments away from the trendy Meatpacking District with its designer shops and fashionable clubs. Yet when you turn onto Horatio Street you are in a tranquil oasis. Near the magnificent new Hudson River Park, this part of the West Village is where you want to be in Manhattan. Although the location is central, it is a calm, quiet retreat from the action found all around.

This Greek Revival residence, circa 1840, retains much of its original feeling. Standing on the front stoop you can watch the sun setting over the Hudson, and, if you are lucky, the QE2 may be passing. At street level you will see an alleyway entrance, once a "horsewalk" that led to a two-story building at the rear. The stable disappeared many years ago, and what is left is a large garden which all guests are encouraged to enjoy. Sitting in the garden in the evening, you can see the lights of The Empire State Building, a beacon to the north. Inside, the parlor floor is filled with antiques and paintings.

A curved staircase leads to the second floor where three rooms are available for guests. There are two large double rooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with twin beds. Both rooms have air conditioning, light, views and comfortable furnishings. The large modern bathroom is shared by the guests on that floor. The innkeeper is a painter and the 3rd floor is her own pied-a-terre and studio. There is also a single room on that floor that shares a bathroom with her.
